About Former Senator The Honourable Marise Payne:
The Honourable Marise Payne is an accomplished, considered strategic leader, highly experienced in foreign policy, national security and strategic issues.
She served as Australia’s Minister for Defence and Minister for Foreign Affairs. Her career focus is on working closely with allies and partners and developing key relationships to deliver greater strategic strength and resilience, and served in the Australian Senate for over 26 years between 1997 and 2023, becoming the longest serving female Senator in Australian history.
Marise Payne is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Hoover Institution, a Board Member of ORF-America (Observer Research Foundation) and a Vice Chancellor’s Fellow and Professor of Practice – International Relations and Public Policy at Western Sydney University in Australia.
